Sewing a dress and taking a dress to next level is totally two different things, when we start any project we thought about design, fabric and colour but later on, we concluded to point that there should be the X-factor in the dress. So What is the X-factor in the dress??? My answer will be LACE, Embroidery, buttons, Ribbons etc. We focus on types of Sewing Laces today.
Today, I have opened my Lace box and what I found is the bunch of a different type of Laces. In my opinion, every Sewist must collection of these laces, as they work like a disaster management in sewing project 😉

Let’s start with Different Types of Laces & What are my favourite ones. Lastly, I have recommended some Laces so you may want to purchase or at least have look at it. (Scroll at the end of Article )
Different Types of Sewing Laces:
There are different types of laces some of them are listed below:
1 ZIG ZAG LACE/ RICRAC LACE
A simple cotton/Nylon lace nice to look at the edge of hems. I have used this zigzag lace many times, my recent Youtube Sewing tutorial: Simple Pinafore, pockets contain it.

Zigzag lace or Ricrac lace with background bone work on both ends, this lace is also called as Machine Lace with abstract reversible Ricrac design.

2 EYELET LACE – A COTTON LACES
These Cotton laces are my favorite one as they make outfit casual to formal. Most of them are made with organic Cottons and used in Newborn dresses. Below is my Collection of eyelet Cotton laces.

Wide Eyelet Lace is the best to use in collars and ruffles gathers. They are 4 Inch wide average with eyelet work and embroidered flower or other abstract work.

3 Crochet Laces
A handmade or machine made lace which goes well cotton, light cotton and linen dress.

Tape Laces are specifically design to sew along with hems.

Cutwork Lace are most popular in styling a dress bottom hem, It lenghthen the dress very well.

A lace which sews by there upper bone part along with hem.

7 Bone-Lace and Bobbin Lace
This is not typical bone lace neither we are declaring any lace name, lace bones are attached to the main structure of lace. These laces are divided into two sections, Main structure and Bone part.

8 Ribbon Pass Lace
Soft material lace having ribbon pass in it, this lace base is cotton or ivory laces.

9 Sequin pass Lace
Sequins are used more formal and party dresses, this sequin pass lace consists of multicolor sequins.

The most beautiful Ivory Laces, soft silky textures and usually netting is the base.

Light weight texture lace with little bit of elasticity.
