Ruffles are vintage fashion style and current fashion essence, so I decided to write three-layered ruffle dress tutorial for my sewist community. We already learn how to sew Ruffle layer Skirt in past months but sewing layered ruffle dress is totally different layered structure as we use manual gathers in it.

Sewing Layered ruffle dress has three layers of ruffles with basic measurements given below and simple bodice as ruffle layer skirt can complement any type of bodice design, We are exclusively giving you all measurements of the size 26 Inch.

Basic measurements in detail with images can be found below

Required to Sewing Layered Ruffle Dress:

  • Basic measurement
  • Different print Fabric can be Cotton, linen etc
  • Thread
  • Plain Fabric for Biastape and Straps.

Basic Measurements

Layered Ruffle Dress is 26 Inch size as of we are not offering any pattern here so Basic measurements with a proper demonstration of cutting and sewing are below:

Bodice Measurement

  • Height: 9.5 Inch
  • Chest Width: 7 Inch
  • Waist: 6.5 Inch
  • Neck deep: 3 Inch
  • Armhole: 5 Inch

Skirt Layers Measurement (from Top to Bottom)

  • 1st layer: Width 12Inch, Length 7Inch
  • 2nd layer: Width 16Inch, Length 5Inch
  • 3rd layer: Width 18Inch, Length 7Inch

Sleeves Measurement

  • Height: 7 Inch Max
  • Width from armhole: 6.5Inch approx

CUTTING STEPS

1 Setup your fabric on table and lay down your pattern on it, if you don’t have pattern try to make one with the help of above measurement. We are working on Bodice first, you can also take help with your own clothes.

2 Cut Front Bodice, Download Simple Bodice Pattern

3 Front and Back Bodice, if you are working with zipper or going to put button holes for confortable wearing, make back bodice 2 Inch wider than front bodice ( A Pro Sewing tip)

5  First Skirt Layer by measuring 12 Inch wide.

SEWING STEPS

1 Sewing Layered ruffle dress first we have worked on sleeves by stitching elastic on hem along with fold.

2 Sewing Zipper on Back bodice

3  Setup Front bodice with the help of some laces and biastape

4 Sewing Shoulders

5 Stitch ready sleeves along with small gathers.

6  Neckline is our next steps, sew sides and then attach biastape along with neckline by making double fold tape.

7 Start Sewing Skirt, Firstly we need to work on layer one by one, Working on the middle layer by giving large stitches with single seams

8  Fetch out the thread from the end

9  Start gathers by pulling out thread gently

11  Attach this middle layer with above/first layer

12  After attaching these two, Look of two layers.

13  Similarly we have created our third layer gatherings nd attached with middle layer plain side.

14  Just sew a skirt sides

15 Sewthe bottom fold by just folding it or apply lace on it(totally your call)

16 Now we are on top of skirt part where we made double stitch for more gathers along with bodice

17 Make Gatherings by pulling thread
